How to Put a Harness on a Dog

Dogs can be a huge help if you’re one of those people who love to get outdoors and enjoy the great outdoors. A dog will accompany you on your walks, hikes, runs, or bike rides and keep you company when it’s just too hot or cold for humans to stand outside. But there are many potential dangers out there for both dogs and their owners alike: poisonous plants, wild animals like coyotes and mountain lions – even other dogs! It’s important to take the proper precautions so that everyone stays safe while exploring nature together. That’s where this article comes in handy: we’ll explain how to put a harness on a dog so that he’ll be ready for anything!

First, put the harness on the ground and let your dog sniff around. Let him get familiar with it before you try to put it on his body. If he doesn’t seem interested, try again later.

Once your dog is comfortable with the harness lying on the ground, you can pick it up and start preparing for putting it on him! The first thing you’ll want to do is make sure that there are no sharp parts or edges poking out of the harness anywhere. If there are, trim them off slowly using a pair of scissors until they’re gone. You don’t want to end up hurting him by accident!

Now that all of the dangerous bits have been taken care of, take your dogs front left paw and slide it through one of the openings on top. Then, slide his back left paw through and do the same with the right side. Now we’re going to get a little tricky: you’re going to take your dogs two back legs and put them both up at once into the harness. Make sure that they go behind the part where his front legs were so that he doesn’t hurt himself trying to walk!

You want to make sure that there is some space between your dogs collar and the harness itself – this will prevent chafing which can be uncomfortable for him. If you notice anything poking out or jagged edges, use scissors again to smooth them down and you’ll be all set!

Once he’s in, clip the fastenings together and you’re all ready to go!
